Credit Options and Lane Change

You may want to use this opportunity for professional learning credit. You have a couple of different options available to you for credit and to use this learning for lane changes. Learn more below.

Option 1: Renewal and Graduate Credit through the AEA. This can be done every year but it does cost you money. For this option, you will need to complete every step of the Climbing the Mountain Process. See more information and registration directions below under Option 1.

Option 2: BOEE License Renewal - This option is available for half of your renewal credits and can only be done one time per renewal cycle. For this option, you will need to upload a digital copy of your Form 7 (signed by you and your building principal) to the BOEE website. See more information about this option below under Option 2.

Lane change: You can use your ICDP for up to three credits within the following lane changes:

BA/BS does not have the option to use their ICDP for lane changes. If you have any further questions about lane changes, please contact Dr. Asmus.

Completing your ICDP - Through Form 7

License Renewal: A completed copy of a teacher's ICDP (Form 7) will count as half of the required renewal credits within a renewal cycle - turned into the Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE)
Lane Change: A completed copy of a teacher's ICDP (Form 7) will count as three credits within any lane change above a MA - turned into the Nevada CSD

MA 0-15: ICDP = 3 credits
MA 16-30: ICDP = 3 credits
MA 31-45: ICDP = 3 credits

Completing Climbing the Mountain for Renewal Credit

Climbing the Mountain renewal credits can be used towards renewing your license - turned into the Board of Education Examiners.

You cannot use renewal credits for any type of Nevada CSD Lane Change below a MA
You can use renewal credits for any MA+ Nevada CSD Lane Changes

Completing Climbing the Mountain for Grad Credit

Climbing the Mountain grad credits can be used towards renewing your license (turned into the BOEE) AND towards any lane change above a MA (turned into the Nevada CSD)

Scenarios

1: You need six credits to renew your license ... you can use your ICDP for three credits and three Renewal OR Grad credits from Climbing the Mountain.

2: You are at MA+24 credits, and you need six credits to renew your license ... you have completed Climbing the Mountain for renewal credit for the last three years.

Your ICDP and the three renewal credits from Climbing the Mountain will meet the six credit requirements of the BOEE to renew your license
Your ICDP will count as three credits towards your MA+ lane change AND your three renewal credits from Climbing the Mountain will also count - you are now at MA+30

Split payment: a portion of the fee is paid with a purchase order (school district) and the remainder is paid with a credit card (participant)
Checks are not an option in this new statewide AEA system

Option 2: BOEE License Renewal

As stated in the introduction of this page, you can earn half of your renewal credits by submitting a signed digital copy (by you and your building principal) of Form 7 to the BOEE website. You can only use this option one time per renewal cycle. Below is the information on the amount of renewal credits you would earn by completing this option.

Standard license - 3 of the 6 credits needed
Master educator license - 2 of the 4 credits needed
Professional administrator license - 2 of the 4 credits needed
Professional service license - 2 of the 4 credits needed
